The BlackBerry, Gmail and Google Apps saga continues.

After leaving an Exchange/MS Sync employer and taking on some new ventures I made the switch over the BlackBerry hoping that with Google apps and an Ubuntu home office environment that I would be set. Though the calendar sync and email apps on my BlackBerry have been great I have run into two very painful shortcomings.

Attachments have randomly encountered problems lately and I have been unable to find any help in the forums. Occassionally when I try to open pictures or documents I will get the error that it is an unsupported file type even though I have opened .jpg's etc. a number of times before with google apps. The other problem with attachments is I have been unable to find a way to add appointments to my calendar via the mobile app.

The most painful problem is contacts. Gmail automatically adds any address I reply to into my address book and I am unable to sync my contacts from Gmail to my BlackBerry.

I love that Google offers the ability to utilize Gmail with my BlackBerry and I love the web interface but the lack of the above features is leaving thinking I may have to look into Yahoo or cringe look at hosted Exchange? I would love to throw google the $25 or even a bit more for the business subscription if they would just beef up the contacts and the attachments!!!!!

If you are feeling my pain please click here and here to give Google a nudge in the right direction.
